So this is Boxing Day…

And that means Christmas is a long way away.

There are two things, nay, three things that I generally do on Boxing Day. 1. Shop, 2. Travel, 3. Blog about Christmas.

Seeing that I’m in Nanaimo and few of the stores I frequent even exist here, I don’t anticipate much of number 1.

I am, however, considering a return to the Lower Mainland today.  For one, I didn’t pack much for this trip and am already running out of things to wear. Secondly, I hate rushing back to the routine.  If possible, I’d rather have a day to get back on track before the inevitable return to work. Read the rest of this entry ?

I still like hot dogs

I still like hot dogs

Early this morning, as I sat watching the latest Star Trek movie in a theatre full of people even nerdier than myself (many in costume), my grandmother passed away.

Yesterday afternoon I was informed her death was imminent. The staff hoped she would survive until the next day when my father was set to arrive, but it had been too long since she had last eaten – she just couldn’t hold on anymore.

Her husband, my grandfather, preceeded her, passing away in December of 2005 after a battle with cancer. Read the rest of this entry ?
